Holobiont

July 30, 2021 § Leave a comment

A true holobiont is not a single tree, not many trees stuck together in nice rows. It is a forest. And a forest needs to be born, to live, to grow, to mature, and to become a full-fledged holobiont. A living being. A creature of the planetary ecosystem that lives with it and gives life to much more than itself. Forests are part of the “biotic regulation” of the whole system, which includes controlling climate and managing the atmospheric rivers by means of the biotic pump mechanism. We cut forests at our own risk. Forests may not survive humans, but humans will surely not survive without forests.

What is important to note is that the DOJ reputation was just shittiest enough for Trump to think he could influence these officials

Always assume the FBI is lying…

But court documents and courtroom testimony showed that prosecutors brought fraud charges only after nearly two years of surveilling Hu and failing to find evidence that he was involved in a more serious crime related to spying or technology transfer. Hu had been upfront about his ties to a university in Beijing and followed University of Tennessee administrators’ advice when preparing documents for the grant. The fraud charges struck Chandler as flimsy.

She came away believing that the lead FBI agent in the case had pursued the investigation out of ambition rather than an interest in justice. She also believed that when faced with questions from federal agents, the administrators who had advised Hu on his grant applications caved and hastily sacrificed their employee. “This poor man just got sold down the river by his university and everyone else,” Chandler said.

“The minority partner, a French company named Framatome, became concerned when what it terms an “imminent radiological threat” occurred at the plant. If the plant had been based in France, it would have had to shut down, but China is not France.

The French partner did not publicly call on its Chinese partner to shut down the plant for at least three reasons: (1) there is no faster way to be forced to sell your interest in a Chinese JV at a steep discount than by publicly criticizing your Chinese JV partner that is either an SOE, a subsidiary of an SOE, or closely connected with the Chinese government; (2) there is no way the Chinese JV partner would have responded and taken the necessary steps in the face of a public demand; and (3) it doesn’t make economic sense to criticize your JV partner unless you are sure the relationship is over and you have nothing left to lose except reputational risk.”

And we also know that the Chinese government has used the anti-corruption campaign more broadly within the country with a political purpose.”

The global Fox Hunt campaign, he said, reflects “the authoritarian nature of the Chinese government and their use of government power to enforce conformity and repress dissent.”

Competence and honesty lacking in the gang the governs in Hawaii.

And it is to always be kept in mind that Blangiardi thought voting for Trump in 2016 was best.

Competence and honesty in the gang that governs Hawaii is always an issue.

If it isn’t one it is the other almost always both and almost never neither.
