Wednesday in the Age of Reason-Munchausen (1988)

Diary Entry:

The entertainment on the bus the other evening was to film a dog being lifted up several feet into the sky by balloons ‘accidentally’ while passersby were taken by surprise. It is a series on the bus without language, usually westerners, a “you’re on candid camera” knockoff. I could tell that the passengers on the bus watching enjoyed laughing at the passersby on the screen who were surprised. The dogs being suddenly lifted into the sky weren’t amused. Another form of animal abuse along the lines of bear baiting and bull fighting.

I was in Changsha. Riding a public bus. They have small tv screens to divert riders attention away from the poor driving.
